Marttyyrit Feodor (Theodoros) Varjagi ja hänen poikansa Johannes elivät 900-luvulla Kiovassa, jossa he toimivat rusien armeijassa. Varjagit olivat pääosin ruotsalaisia ja norjalaisia viikinkitaustaisia henkilöitä. He palvelivat myös Bysantin keisarin henkivartiokaartissa. Sekä Feodor (bysanttilaisittain Theodoros) että Johannes kokivat marttyyrikuoleman vuonna 983. Johannes on Venäjän kirkon ensimmäinen marttyyri. Heidän muistopäivänsä on 12.7.
