Pyhittäjä Kiril Uusjärveläinen (ven. Кирилл Новоезерский) piti eristyneisyydestä ja rukouksesta jo lapsena. 15-vuotiaana hän lähti Pihkovan luolaluostariin. Kornili Pihkovan luolaluostarin igumeni (20.2.) toimi hänen ohjaajanaan. Kornilin suostumuksella Kirill lähti vaeltamaan erämaahan, jossa hän vietti 20 vuotta.
