Pyhä pappismarttyyri ja Prusan (Bithynian) piispa, Timotheos sai Herralta lahjaksi ihmeiden tekemisen armon, koska hän eli puhdasta ja pyhää elämää. Prusassa hän käännytti lukuisia pakanoita kristityiksi. Keisari Julianos Apostata eli Julianos Luopio (361-363) kuullessaan pyhästä Timotheoksesta lukitsi hänet vankilaan, mutta jopa siellä pyhä jatkoi yhä edelleen evankeliumin saarnaamistaan. Julianos kielsi häntä opettamasta Jeesuksesta Kristuksesta, mutta pyhä jatkoi kristinuskon levittämistä. Lopulta keisari käski mestata pyhän Timotheoksen. Hänen pyhät pyhäinjäännöksensä siirrettiin myöhemmin Konstantinopoliin.
