Santa Parasceva, virgen y mártir, fue la única hija de Agathon y Politia, dos cristianos del primer siglo. Desde muy temprano Parasceva dedicó su vida a Dios y pasó mucho de su tiempo en oración y leyendo las santas Escrituras. Al poco tiempo de la muerte de sus padres, Santa Parasceva entregó todas sus pertenencias a los pobres y consagró su virginidad a Cristo.
