Sava era hijo del rey Esteban el Primer-coronado, y sobrino de san Sava I. Antes de su tonsura, Sava se llamaba Predislav. Siguiendo el ejemplo de su gran tío, Predislav fue tonsurado como monje y se dedicó celosamente a una vida de ascetismo. Fue elegido sucesor de san Arsenio como Arzobispo de los serbios con el nombre de Sava II. Gobernó la Iglesia con gran devoción y amor. Murió en el 1268 d.C., y sus reliquias descansan en el Monasterio de Peć.
