Nacido en Prizren, sirvió primero como secretario del Rey Dušan. Se convirtió en Arzobispo en 1339, y en 1346 fue elevado al rango de Patriarca. Fue un pastor celoso, y trajo el oden a la Iglesia de Serbia, siendo «un gran defensor de las leyes de la Iglesia». Entró a su descanso el 3 de septiembre de 1349, y sus reliquas son atesoradas en Peć.
