Nació en el año 260 de padres cristianos Teodoro y Rufina, cuando éstos estaban en prisión, donde murieron en oración, el Santo todavía niño, quedo huérfano sin embargo, una mujer cristiana rica, llamada Amía, lo adoptó dándole educación y amor maternal. A los 15 años, discutió con idólatras declarando abiertamente su fe en Cristo, luego de lo cual lo golpearon con mucha crueldad posteriormente le colgaron una piedra del cuello y lo arrojaron al mar, salvándose por la intervención divina. Entonces fue tomado nuevamente, lanzado al fuego y a las bestias hambrientas, sobreviviendo de todo este martirio. El Santo murió atravesado por un tridente en el abdomen. Esta Vida nos recuerda las palabras de Cristo que decía: “Por tanto, el que se humilla como este niño será el más grande en el reino de los cielos.” Mateo 18:4
