El Profeta Samuel fue el decimoquinto y último de los Jueces de Israel, que vivió más de 1146 años antes del Nacimiento de Cristo. Era descendiente de la Tribu de Levi, y era hijo de Elcana de Ramathaim de Zofim de Monte Efraín. El nació, habiendo sido pedido en las oraciones de su madre Ana al Señor (por lo tanto recibió el nombre de Samuel, que significa "rogó a Dios"). Incluso antes del nacimiento, se dedicó a Dios. Su canción, "Mi corazón se regocija en el Señor", es la Oda Tercera del Antiguo Testamento (1 Sam / 1 Reyes 2:1-10).
