La fiesta de este gran Apóstol y Evangelista se celebra el 26 de septiembre. En este día se conmemora el milagro que ocurría [anualmente] en su tumba. Cuando Juan tenía más de cien años, tomó a siete discípulos, se marchó a las afueras de Éfeso, y les ordenó que cavaran una tumba en forma de cruz. Entonces el anciano descendió a su tumba y fue enterrado. Algún tiempo después, cuando los fieles abrieron la tumba de Juan no hallaron su cuerpo. Y el 8 de mayo de cada año se sacaba polvo de su tumba, mediante el cual muchos enfermos eran sanados de varias enfermedades.
