Él era uno de los cuatro hijos de José y hermano de Jacobo quien fue el primer obispo de Jerusalén. Luego del asesinato de Jacobo, nombraron a Simeón como obispo de Jerusalén. Su trabajo fue perfecto incansable y abnegado, así como su valor intelectual fue una estrella luminosa, que ayudo a muchas almas a alcanzar la salvación. La característica de Simeón era su creencia férrea, vivió 120 años y cuando enfrento el martirio lo hizo sin quebrarse. Su edad avanzada, no coincidía con un corazón joven el cual resistió muchos tormentos, en esos momentos difíciles sus pensamientos eran elevados constantemente a Dios, siendo una inspiración para todos.
