Santa Eudoxia era nativa de Samaría. Vivía en Heliopolis en Fenicia (al oriente de las montañas de Líbano y al norte de Palestina), durante el reinado del emperador romano Trajano (años 89-117). En su juventud era muy hermosa y esbelta. Llevaba una vida pecaminosa, vendiendo su cuerpo. Los ricos pretendientes y admiradores venían de diferentes países para ver a Eudoxia. Así con el tiempo ella se hizo muy rica y respetada por el poder local.
