Cresto era un cristiano albanés que vivía en Constantinopla y era jardinero de profesión. Un día ofendió a un turco mientras vendía sus vegetales, y este lo acusó falsamente ante un juez, diciendo que Cresto le había prometido hacerse musulmán y luego se había retractado. Tras ser interrogado, Cresto fue encadenado y arrojado en prisión. Alguien le ofreció comida en la cárcel, mas Cresto la rechazó diciendo: «Es mejor si me presento ante Cristo ayunando». Después de esto, sacó un dinero que había escondido bajo su cinturón, y entregándoselo a uno de sus compañeros de cárcel, pidiendo que el dinero se usara para que se celebrasen muchas Liturgias por su alma. Fue degollado por los turcos en 1748, siendo glorificado eternamente en el Reino de Cristo Dios.
