Mariana "la Virgen apostólica" y hermana del apóstol San Felipe (de noviembre 14), hizo un voto de virginidad y sintió bien al compañero de su hermano Felipe y del Santo Apóstol Bartolomé (de junio 11), asistiéndoles activamente en su trabajo apostólico. El historiador Nicéforo Calixto de la iglesia describe su predicación acertada en la ciudad de Pirigian de Hieropolis, en donde los arrestaron y fueron trabados para arriba en la prisión. Pusieron al apóstol Felipe a morir en la Cruz, pero Santa Mariana y San Bartolomé fueron dejados libres. San Bartolomé fue a predicar el Evangelio en la India. Santa Mariana, después de enterrar el cuerpo de San Felipe, predicó el Evangelio en Lykaonia (Asia menor). Ella murió allí en paz.
