Die Heilige - getauft auf den Namen Averkij trat schon in jungen Jahren ins Mönchtum ein und lebte am Ufer des Nero-Sees, wo damals viele Heiden waren. So gab es nicht weit von seiner Zelle eine Kultstätte des Gottes Volos, die Avraamij nach einer Vision zerstörte, um an ihrer Stelle eine Theophanie - Kapelle zu errichten, aus der dann das gleichnamige Kloster erwuchs, dessen Abt er wurde. Viele Heiden vermochte er zu bekehren, bis er am 29. Oktober, wohl des Jahres 1107, starb.
