Der Ehrwürdige Isidor wurde um 360 in Pelusium in Ägypten geboren. Er war verwandt mit dem ehrw. Theophilos, dem Patriarchen von Alexandria, und dessen Neffen, dem hl. Kyrill von Alexandria (Gedächtnis: 31. (18.) Januar und 22. (9.) Juni). Wohlhabend und gebildet, wurde er Mönch, dann Priester und Abt im Kloster von Pelusium.
