Der Hegumenos des Klosters wollte, dass er die Priesterwürde erhalte, aber Dometios fühlte sich dessen nicht würdig, und begab sich hinter den Euphrat, und lebte mit 9 Jüngern in einer Höhle bei Kyron. Kaiser Julianos, als er in seinem Kriege gegen die Perser an dieser Höhle vorüber kam, befahl er den Eingang derselben zu sperren, so dass Dometios und seine Jünger starben.
