Die heilige Nonna war die Frau des hl. Gregor von Nazianz (Gedenktag 14. (1.) Januar), den sie durch ihre Gebete zu Christus bekehrte. Sie gebar und erzog aufrichtig ihre Kinder, die in der Orthodoxen Kirche bis heute als berühmte und heilige Menschen verehrt werden: der hl. Grigorij, der Theologe (Gedenktag: 18. (5.) Januar), der hl. Kessarij, Bischof von Nazianz (Gedenktag: 22. (9.) März), sowie die hl. Gorgonia (Gedenktag: 8. März (23. Februar). Die heilige Nonna starb friedlich am 5. August des Jahres 374 in Nazianz.
