Die hll. Amphianos und Edesios waren leibliche Brüder aus einer angesehenen und reichen Familie aus Pegasos in Lykien. Zur weiteren Ausbildung wurden sie von den Eltern nach Berit geschickt, wo sie, Heiden von Geburt, den Christlichen Glauben kennenlernten, und haben sich zu Christus bekehrt. In ihre Heimat zurückgekehrt, kamen sie nach Cäsaria in Palästina, wo sie vom hl. Pampholos (Gedächtnis: 1. März (18. Februar)) getauft wurden. Unter Kaiser Maximianos (305-313) hielt der hl. Amphianos einmal die Hand des Statthalters Urbanos auf, als dieser den Götzen opfern sollte. Dafür wurde er als Christ in Gewahrsam genommen und nach langen und grausamen Foltern mit einem Steine um den Hals ins Meer geworfen. Die Wellen des Meeres brachten die Reliquien des Märtyrers an die Küste und die Christen begruben sie.
