Der hl. Märtyrer Terenthios und seine Gefährten bildeten eine 40-mann starke Einheit der römischen Armee in Afrika. Als der Statthalter Fortunatianos den Befehl des Kaisers erhielt, dass alle unter seiner Macht stehende den Götzen öffentlich opfern sollten, wollte er den hl. Terenthios dazu zwingen. Jedoch nicht nur dieser, sondern die ganze Einheit verweigerte dieses. Alle vierzig Christen wurden gequält, zuletzt auch der hl. Terenthios, und starben als Märtyrer. Sie litten ihr Martyrium unter Kaiser Dekios, um die Jahre 249-251.
