Hl. Apostel Philipp war aus der Zahl der 70, gehörte zu den 7 Diakonen, welche von den Aposteln auserwählt wurden. Geboren in Käsaria in Palästina, verkündete er das Evangelium in Samaria, taufte Simon den Magier und den Eunuchen der Ethiopischen Königin Kandake. In der Würde eines Bischofs verkündete er Christum zu Tralles in Lydien.
