Der heilige Theophilos stammte aus Bulgarien. Er lebte auf dem Selentinis Berg, zur Zeit des byzantynischen Kaisers Leo den Isaurer. Er wurde wegen seinem orthodoxen Glaubens und der Verehrung der hl. Ikonen verfolgt und hatte viel gelitten in der Stadt Nikäa. Er starb im VIII. Jahrh.
