Die Legende berichtet von Marina, dass sie als von ihrer Mutter verlassenes Mädchen ihrem Vater Eugen unter dem Namen Marinos ins Kloster gefolgt sei, indem sie sich als Junge verkleidete. Sie lebte als Mönch - niemand erkannte ihr wahres Geschlecht -, bis eine Frau sie eines Tages beschuldigte, der Vater ihres unehelichen Kindes zu sein. Marina wurde aus dem Kloster verstoßen und sorgte nun für das ihr unterschobene Kind. Erst nach ihrem Tod sei die Wahrheit herausgekommen.
