Der heilige rechtgläubige Fürst Vjacheslav von Böhmen wurde von seiner Großmutter, der Fürstin Ludmila, im christlichen Glauben unterwiesen. Nach dem Tode seines Vaters Vratislav († 920) trat er die Herrschaft an. Er lenkte den Staat mit Weitsicht und Gerechtigkeit und mühte sich um die Bekehrung des Volkes zum Christentum. Am 28. September 935 erhoben sich neidische Fürsten, unter ihnen sein Bruder Boleslav, und ermordeten ihn.
