Der ehrwürdige Prochor wurde in Smolensk (Altrussland) geboren. Er wurde Mönch in Kiewer Höhlenkloster in den "Näheren Höhlen". Mit seiner Segenskraft, verwandelte der Heilige der Überlieferung nach ein Meldegewächs in Brot sowie Asche in Salz, was den Kiewer Fürsten Swyatopolk bekehrte, der später den ehrw. Prochor selbst begrub. Der Heilige starb im Jahre 1107 ebenda.
