Die heilige Märtyrerin Evlalia lebte in der Stadt Barkinon (heut. Barcelona in Spanien). Als sie von der Verfolgung der Christen hörte, verließ sie das Elternhaus und ging in die Stadt. Dort bekannte sie sich öffentlich als Christin, obwohl sie erst 14 Jahre alt war. Sie wurde auf ein Kreuz gespannt und mit Fackeln gebrannt, bis sie schließlich starb, um 303, unter dem römischen Kaiser Diokletianos.
