Der hl. Theodot war Besitzer eines Gasthauses in Ankyra, wo die Christen während der Christenverfolgung unter Kaiser Diokletianos Zuflucht fanden und die Gottesdienste abhielten. Außerdem besuchte der hl. Theodot selbst die hll. Märtyrer in den Gefängnissen und bestatte die ermordeten Märtyrer. Einst wurde die hl. Tekussa, die Älteste der sieben Jungfrauen, mit den anderen wegen ihrer Verweigerung den Götzenbildern zu dienen, mit Steinen um den Hals ins Meer geworfen. Der hl. Theodot holte in der Nacht die Gebeine der Märtyrerinnen aus dem Wasser und bestattete sie. Deswegen wurde er selbst verurteilt und enthauptet, im Jahre 303.
