Der hl. Ahilios lebte im 4. Jahrhundert, zur Zeit des Kaisers Konstantin den Großen (+337). Als frommer und gelehrter Mann wurde er Bischof von Larysa in Phesalien. Der Hl. Ahilios war unter den hl. Vätern des I. Ökumenischen Konzils von Nikea (im Jahre 325, Gedenktag: 28. (15.) Mai), verteidigte den Orthodoxen Glauben und bekämpfte das Heidentum. Der Heilige starb friedlich im Jahre 330.
