Rechtgl. Boris, Zar der Bulgaren, wurde in der 1. Hälfte des 9. Jahrhunderts in Bulgarien geboren. Er regierte von 853 bis 889 und empfing 865 von byzantinischen Glaubensboten die Taufe. Er widmete sich der Missionierung seines Landes. Er wandte sich wieder der Orthodoxen Kirche zu und führte die slawische Liturgie der Slawenapostel hll. Cyrillus und Methodius ein. 889 entsagte Boris seiner Herrschaft und wurde Mönch. Er starb am 15. Mai 907.
