Der heilige Märtyrer Christophoros lebte zur Zeit des Kaisers Dekios (249-251) und war in der Jugend ein starker und schönaussehender Mann. Den Versuchungen der Welt zu entkommen, erbat er den Herrn ein hässliches Angesicht zu bekommen, was auch ihm von Gott gewährt wurde. Wegen seines Glaubens wurde er verfolgt, doch die 200 Soldaten, die starken Krieger, die das Gericht stellen sollten, wurden durch den Heiligen bekehrt. Während seiner Quallen wurden zwei Frauen, die ihm verführen sollten, sowie 50-tausend Heiden, zu Christus bekehrt. Schließlich wurde der hl. Christophoros unter Kaiser Dekios, im Jahre 250 in Lykien, zum Tode durch Enthauptung verurteilt.
