Die Ehrwürdige Anastasja stammte aus einem adligen Geschlecht. Sie lebte am Hofe des Kaisers Justinian. Da sie die Missgunst der Kaiserin Theodora gegen sich erkannte, begab sie sich nach Alexandria und gründete dort ein Nonnenkloster. Nach einigen Jahren legte sie die Männliche Kleidung an, und schloss sich in eine Höhle beim Kloster des hl. Daniel an, und lebte hier im völligen Schweigen 28 Jahren. Sie wusste ihr Hinscheiden im Voraus (567).
