Der hl. Alexander wurde Bischof von Kapadokien, unter Kaiser Severos. 212 kam er als Pilger ins hl. Land. In Jerusalem wurde er als Gehilfe des alten Bischof Narkis eingesetzt. Er verwaltete 38 Jahre die orthodoxe Kirche von Jerusalem. Während der Christenverfolgung unter Kaiser Dekios wurde er ins Gefängnis geworfen, wo er auch sterben musste, um 250.
