Micha, von Beruf ursprünglich Bauer, war als Prophet in Jerusalem und wohl auch an seinem Heimatort Moreseth - wohl bei Gath, dem heutigen Kirjat Gat - tätig. In seinen Worten finden sich scheltende und drohende Worte gegen die Zustände im Nord- wie im Südreich ebenso wie großartige Verheißungen, so die bekannte des kommenden Friedensreiches (Micha 4, 1 - 5, ähnlich bei Jesaja 2, 2 - 5) mit dem bekannten Hoffnungszeichen, dass "Schwerter zu Pflugscharen" umgeschmiedet werden.
