阿纳斯塔西是圣西奈山修道院的院长。起初他是修道院的修士，听从于修道院院长－德高望重的圣天梯约安的教导，这样过了很长一段时间。在圣天梯约安去世后，阿纳斯塔西成了修道院院长。除了潜心修行之外，阿纳斯塔西书写了圣人生活传记，以及其他指导性的作品。阿纳斯塔西坚决反对异端，所谓的“无头派”异端否认第四次普世大公会议（卡尔西顿，公元451年）上所作出的决定。阿纳斯塔西于公元685年高龄之际得以进入他虔诚服侍的主耶稣基督的国度。
