格奥尔吉是塞尔维亚人，来自克拉托佛城。他是个银匠，并且是一位虔诚的基督徒。当土耳其人欲将其皈依伊斯兰教时，格奥尔吉年仅18岁。格奥尔吉对信仰表现出了如同钻石般的坚定。土耳其人用很多酷刑残酷地折磨他，最后将他绑在木桩上被活活烧死。格奥尔吉于公元1515年2月11日为美好的基督信仰而荣耀殉道，地点是在保加利亚的索菲亚，当时正是苏丹谢里姆当政时期，由此他得到了天国不朽的荣耀。
