这位伟大的圣人是玛格尼西亚的主教，为基督的缘故忍受了磨难，殉道时113岁高龄。当皇帝塞蒂米乌斯•塞维鲁斯开始残酷地迫害基督徒时，长老哈拉蓝博并没有隐藏，而是公开地宣讲基督信仰。所有在他身上施加的酷刑，都如同没有在他身上发生一样。当刽子手们生剥他的皮肉时，这位宽宏大量的长老对皇帝的士兵说：“谢谢你们，我的兄弟们，因为你们使我脱去了旧的身躯，为我的灵魂带来了一个新的、永恒的生命。”哈拉蓝博施行了很多奇迹，并皈依了很多人信奉基督。就连皇帝的女儿加利娜也放弃了她父皇的偶像崇拜成了基督徒。哈拉蓝博被判处死刑，在刑场上，哈拉蓝博将双手举向天空为所有的人向上帝祷告，乞求上帝赐给他们健康的体魄、拯救他们的灵魂，并使他们在地上的果实增多。“哦，上帝，你知道人是血肉之躯，请原谅他们的罪，并为他们注入你的恩典！”在祷告结束后，这位伟大的圣人在刽子手举起刀之前就魂归天国了。哈拉蓝博于公元202年殉道。皇帝的女儿加利娜将他的遗体移走，并荣耀地进行了埋葬。
