多若德雅来自卡帕多西亚的恺撒里亚，且才貌出众。当时该省的行政长官萨普里丘斯将多若德雅交给两位异教姐妹赫里斯提那和卡利斯塔，以便让她们二人说服多若德雅放弃基督信仰。但是结果正好相反，多若德雅皈依了二位姐妹信奉基督。行政长官听到这消息后非常气愤，他下令将姐妹二人捆绑起来，投进一个装有沥青的锅中，而后在锅下面点火。同时也将多若德雅判处死刑。多若德雅闻讯后却非常喜悦，说：“哦，拯救灵魂的基督，我感谢你，你正引导我进入你那全圣的住所之中！”当时在场的一名叫德奥斐洛的贵族在一旁耻笑多若德雅的话语，并对她说：“听着，基督的新娘，别忘了在你新郎的乐园中也采摘一些苹果和石榴花给我！”多若德雅回答说：“是的，我将会给你的。”就在多若德雅殉道的地方，一个手捧苹果和三支红色石榴花的少年出现了。这是上帝派来的使者，而当时正是严冬季节。多若德雅要求天使将这些苹果和石榴花送给德奥斐洛，并对他说：“看哪！这就是你要的东西！”当德奥斐洛收到这些礼物且看到这个场景时非常害怕。他痛改前非，原来曾是异教徒的德奥斐洛皈依了基督。至此，德奥斐洛也为基督的缘故遭受了磨难，但是他的灵魂却获得了拯救，同圣多若德雅一起进入基督的乐园之中。
