这四位圣人是圣山阿托斯著名的伊比利亚修道院的创始人。起初，圣约安在阿塔纳西修道院潜心修行，后来创建了伊维伦修道院。约安于公元998年去世。艾弗提弥和格奥尔吉将《圣经》翻译成了格鲁及亚文。艾弗提弥于公元1029年去世，格奥尔吉于公元1066年去世。迦百列亲自迎接了由海运而抵达修道院的圣母创造奇迹圣像。
