塔勒莱出生于黎巴嫩。他的父亲是贝鲁丘斯，母亲是罗米拉。塔勒莱是一个年仅18岁的少年，相貌英俊，身材高大，有一头金色的头发。塔勒莱的职业是医生。努梅里安在位期间，塔勒莱为了基督遭受了折磨。塔勒莱在残暴的法官面前表白了自己的基督信仰，而后法官命令两名刽子手亚历山大和阿斯特里乌斯用钻子钻透他的双膝，用绳索穿过膝盖骨上的洞，然后再将他吊在树上。上帝通过无形的力量使刽子手的视力出现障碍，实际上，刽子手吊在树上的是一块木板而不是塔勒莱。当法官发觉此事后，他以为刽子手是在故意这样作，于是下令鞭打这两个刽子手。亚历山大和阿斯特里乌斯在遭受鞭打时喊道：“主是活的，从现在起我们也成为基督徒。”听到这之后，法官下令也将他们二人斩首。然后，法官自己拿着钻子开始钻塔勒莱的膝盖，但是他的双手却麻痹了，不能动弹，于是法官祈求塔勒莱帮助他。无辜的基督殉道者在祷告之下帮助了法官。之后，塔勒莱被投入到水中，但是他却活龙活现地出现在法官的面前（因为塔勒莱暗自向上帝祷告，希望上帝能够延长他的苦难，这样他就不会立即死去）。当塔勒莱被投到野兽面前时，这些野兽却用舌头添他的脚，非常温和。最后，塔勒莱遭到了斩首，于公元284年得以进入永生的天国。
