君士坦丁的儿子康斯坦蒂乌斯在位期间，基里尔担任耶路撒冷的牧首，当时早上九时，耶路撒冷的上空出现了荣耀的十字架，从各各他一直延伸到橄榄山上空。这个十字架比太阳还要明亮，比彩虹还要绚丽。包括信徒和非信徒在内的所有人都放下了工作，畏惧、惊异地看着这个天国的迹象。许多非信徒皈依了基督，而且许多阿里乌斯异端也放弃了他们的异端邪说，回归到了东正教信仰。基里尔牧首致信倾向于阿里乌斯异端的皇帝康斯坦蒂乌斯（公元337－361年），谈到了这个迹象。这个事件发生在公元357年5月7日。由此，从这一事件来看，基督信仰并非根据人的感觉理解的世间的理论而已，而是通过许多奇迹和迹象表明了上帝的力量。
