巴巴鲁斯犯下了很多罪过，他进行了悔罪，并命令自己用四肢走路以悔罪，这样经过了三年的时间，吃的是狗吃的东西。而后他又在森林中衣不蔽体地露天生活了12年的时间，期间只食青草和树叶。巴巴鲁斯从天使那里得到信息：他的罪过已经获得了宽恕。一些经过森林的商人从远处看到了熟睡的巴巴鲁斯，以为他是一个动物，不是人，他们拉开弓箭向他射去。垂死之际，巴巴鲁斯要求他们将此事通报给附近的司祭。司祭赶到之后，将其荣耀地埋葬。从他的遗体中流出了圣油，治愈了无数患有各种疾病的人们。
