当玛尔克下船踏足亚历山大里亚的时候，他的一只鞋子破了。后来，他找到了一个修鞋匠，将鞋子交给他，让他修理。在修鞋的过程中，修鞋匠的左手被针扎破了，鲜血直流，修鞋匠疼得大叫起来。而后，玛尔克用他的唾液同尘土混合起来，敷在他的伤口上，伤口立即愈合了。修鞋匠为这个奇迹感到吃惊，并邀请玛尔克到他的家里。听过玛尔克讲道之后，阿尼亚努斯（修鞋匠的名字）以及他的家眷全部接受了浸礼。阿尼亚努斯为上帝的事工表现出了如此的美德和热心，以致于后来圣玛尔克按立了他作为主教。阿尼亚努斯是亚历山大里亚第二任主教。
