伊莉莎白在年少时期就来到了位于君士坦丁堡的圣科斯马斯修道院和圣达弥安修道院，为了主基督和自己灵魂的拯救而在这里潜心苦行。伊莉莎白将自己看成是基督的新娘，将这个世界看成乌有。出于对上帝的爱，伊莉莎白对人们充满了极大的同情心，尤其是对病人和遭受苦难的人。上帝赋予了她恩典，使她能够医治各种各样的疾病。在她晚上进行祷告的时候，她的全身被来自天国的光照耀。在伊莉莎白去世后，她的圣髑仍然具有医治病症的能力，各个年龄的许多病人和遭受苦难的人都聚集到她的坟墓前请求帮助。伊莉莎白于公元540年平安地离世，得以进入上帝喜乐的永生国度。
