赛维鲁斯生活在意大利中部，是一个非常圣洁的人。有一次应召为一个濒临死亡的人聆听忏悔并为他分享圣餐的时候，由于他葡萄园里有一些工作而来迟了。那个病人已经死的消息传到他的耳朵州，他感到非常恐惧，就如同他杀死了那个人一样。赛维鲁斯在死者旁边感到万分悲痛。在他恒切的祷告之下，上帝使这个死人又重新复活。赛维鲁斯聆听了他的忏悔，为他分享了他圣餐，并为他准备了一个基督徒离世所需的一切。在第八天的时候，这个人又死了。
