特里丰出生于弗里吉亚地区兰普萨科村的贫苦人家。从年幼时起特里丰便放鹅。从那时起，他就有上帝的大恩，能医治病人和家畜，并能够驱赶魔鬼。当时罗马皇帝格迪安在位，他的女儿格迪安娜患上了精神病，这使得皇帝非常伤心。所有的医生都不能治愈格迪安娜的病症。邪灵藉格迪安娜之口发言，说除了特里丰之外，其他任何人都不能将它驱逐。皇帝召见了帝国境内很多名叫特里丰的人，出于天意，小特里丰也被皇帝召见。特里丰被带到罗马，并治愈了皇帝女儿的病症。皇帝奖赏了特里丰很多礼品，他在返回途中将所有礼品分给了穷人。之后，这位圣洁的年轻人在他的村庄里继续喂养鹅，并向上帝祷告。当迫害基督徒的德西乌斯加冕为皇帝后，圣特里丰为基督的缘故遭受了严刑拷打。他怀着极大的喜乐忍受了所有的痛苦，说：“哦！但愿我能配为我主上帝耶稣基督的名死于烈火酷刑！”所有的刑罚在他的身上都不造成伤害，最后刽子手们判他斩首。在临刑之前，特里丰向上帝作了祷告，将其灵魂交在了造主之手，当时正是公元250 年。
