在有福的伊格尔王子时代，在俄罗斯王室之间出现了争论和混乱；在教会上也出现了混乱，并经常更换高级司教。在基辅都主教弥哈伊尔去世后，伊兹亚斯拉夫王子将著名的、有学识的修士克里姆封为都主教，但是并没有得到君士坦丁堡牧首的祝福，这同古老的传统是背道而驰的。由此君士坦丁堡牧首派遣都主教君士坦丁去调查情况。君士坦丁免去了克里姆的都主教职务，并流放了教会中所有克里姆按立的教士。由此，民众之间出现了分裂：部分人拥护克里姆，而部分人拥护君士坦丁。根据俄罗斯王室的请求，牧首派遣了第三位都主教德奥多若，德奥多若免去了克里姆和君士坦丁的职务。1159年君士坦丁去世，他的遗嘱被打开，遗嘱中君士坦丁要求不要将他进行荣耀的安葬，而是将他的尸体仍到田野中，让狗蚕食，因为他认为自己应该为教会的混乱负责。没有人敢违背他的遗嘱，一些人恐惧地将都主教的尸体抬到田野中，将尸体留在那里三天的时间。但是在这三天时间内，基辅发生了可怕的电闪雷鸣，雷击打大地，致使大地震动。有八个人因雷致死。从君士坦丁无生命的尸体上出现了三个火柱。看到这之后，基辅王子下令将君士坦丁的尸体抬回，在安葬伊格尔的教堂中将其进行荣耀的安葬。在这之后，自然立即恢复了安静。由此，上帝为他谦卑的仆人找回了公正。
