阿尔切雷斯、特克拉和苏珊娜都是圣洁的童女，她们在罗马附近的一个不知名的修道院中过着修行生活。戴克里先在位期间开始了对基督徒的迫害运动，于是她们都逃到了坎帕尼亚，在诺拉城定居下来。在众人面前，她们隐藏不住她们的圣洁生活，周围的人们开始来到她们那里寻求指点、忠告，并在遭遇困难和患病时求她们帮助。最后，她们被异教徒抓住，将她们带到了法庭。这三位圣女公开地表白了自己的基督信仰。当法官里昂蒂乌斯问圣阿尔切雷斯有关基督信仰时，阿尔切雷斯回答说："因为基督的力量，我踩碎了魔鬼的力量，我用聪明教导人们，这样她们就知道唯一真正的上帝，并以主基督－上帝独生子的名，通过我－他的仕女使所有那些患病的人恢复健康。"这三位圣女遭受了鞭打，刽子手们将滚烫的沥青浇在她们的身上，同时使她们三人在监狱中忍受饥饿之苦，最后这三位圣女全部被斩首。在她们遭受刑罚期间，天使出现在她们面前，而一些刽子手也看到了这些天使。刽子手们感到非常害怕，他们不能举起手中的刀剑来杀死这三位圣女。但是，这三位圣女却鼓励刽子手们履行他们的职责，就这样，这三位圣女如同羔羊一样于公元293年被杀死，得以进入基督的国度。
