在基督徒遭受迫害期间，很多信徒都躲到山洞里，科德拉特的母亲也不例外。她当时怀着身孕，在树林间生下了科德拉特，不久后她便离开了人世，留下了孤苦无助的婴儿。科德拉特得到了上帝派来的天使的照料和引领。科德拉特独自一人在大自然中成长。上帝以前从天上向旷野中的以色列民赐予食量，如今也从云中滴下甘露到婴儿的口中。当科德拉特长到12岁的时候，他来到了城市中，在那里，他得到了一个好心人的收养，并使他接受教育。科德拉特学习了医学，治愈病人。除了用医学治愈病人之外，更多的是借助圣灵与祷告的力量，这也是他从小就养成的习惯。在德西乌斯在位期间又开始了一场迫害基督徒的运动，科德拉特遭到了逮捕、审讯，最后被打入监狱。跟他一起表白自己基督信仰的还有另外五人，他们是基普里安、迪奥尼西、阿奈科特、帕弗罗和克瑞斯肯斯。他们被异教徒托到大街上，特别是那些异教徒的孩子们，他们用棍子和石头击打这些基督徒，最后来到了断头台前。这些殉道者向上帝作了祷告，而后遭到了斩首。就在刑场的地下涌出了一股泉水，而该地方至今仍叫做科德拉特，以使后人永远记住：在这里曾经有六位正义的基督徒为基督而死。这些为真理而牺牲的殉道者殉道时间为公元250年，地点在科林托，当时正是德西乌斯和他委任的行政长官加森当政时期。
