斐洛若默生活在公元4世纪，在加拉提亚过着苦行的生活。据说，他的美德达到了完美的程度，以致于从外表看上去，他更象是一位天使，而不是一名普通人。特别是他的忍耐而使其受到赞美。叛教者犹利安在位时期，斐洛若默为了基督的缘故遭受了很多磨难。基督徒的迫害者犹利安在死后，斐洛若默得以过上平静的生活，于80岁高龄之际安息主怀。
