塔提亚纳是罗马人，她的父母是当时的大贵族。塔提亚纳是一名基督徒，并且是教会中的女执事。赫里奥加巴鲁斯皇帝去世后，亚历山大皇帝继位统管罗马。亚历山大的母亲芒迈亚是一名基督徒，但是亚历山大皇帝本人对信仰摇摆不定，因为他除了供奉基督圣像外，还将太阳神阿波罗、亚伯拉罕和俄耳普斯神的雕像摆放在他的皇宫中。亚历山大皇帝的主要助手在未经他命令的情况下擅自迫害基督徒。当他们将塔提亚纳带去严刑拷打时，她却为施刑者向上帝祈祷。这些施刑者的眼睛被开启，他们看见了四位天使围绕着塔提亚纳。有见于此，其中的八名施刑者皈依了基督，因此，他们也遭到严刑和杀戮。其他的刽子手继续对塔提亚纳施以酷刑。他们鞭打她、用刀割下她身上的肢体、用铁刮削她的躯体。到了晚上，体无完肤、浑身鲜血的塔提亚纳被投入地牢，第二天，又重新开始对她进行不同的折磨。上帝却差遣天使们来到牢狱，鼓励她，并医治她的创伤。因此，每天早晨，当塔提亚纳出现在施刑者面前的时候都是完好无损，没有任何的伤痕。他们把塔提亚纳投在一头狮子面前，但是这只狮子却讨她欢喜，没有伤害她。他们割去了塔提亚纳的头发，因为这些异教徒迷信地认为她的头发里隐藏着巫术或是魔法的力量。最后，塔提亚纳约于公元225年同她的父亲一起遭斩首。这位英勇的童贞女尽管是柔弱的女儿之身，但是在灵性上却是一位坚强勇敢的英雄，并因此获得了永恒的荣耀冠冕。
