阿里斯托弗洛出生于塞浦路斯，是圣徒巴拿巴的兄弟。根据《罗马书》记载，他跟随圣徒帕弗罗一同工作：“问阿里斯托弗洛家里的人安”（罗马书16：10）。当伟大的圣徒帕弗罗在世界各地任命主教的时候，阿里斯托弗洛被任命为不列颠的主教。当时的不列颠人仍然是未开化的教外之民，且道德败坏。阿里斯托弗洛处在这种环境中，吃了不少苦头。他们毫不留情地殴打他、拖街示众、嘲弄他、取笑他。最后这位圣人在上帝的恩典之下获得了成功，他使这里的人们彻悟，并奉主耶稣基督的名为他们施浸；而后建立教堂、按立司祭和辅祭。阿里斯托弗洛最后在那里平安去世，返回了天家（*）。
